About Beastie Boys
The Beastie Boys received their first real national exposure in 1985, when they opened for Madonna. The band taunted the audience with profanity, and was generally ill received. Licensed to Ill, an album that was released in 1986 was killed by critics as mindless and idiotic. However, all of this slid past the Beastie Boys, when the album became the fastest selling album in Columbia history.
