About Bill Haley
In 1948, Bill Haley, then with the band that he had built, the Saddlemen, released their debut single, 'Rocket 88,' was a pumping piece of sexually suggestive, rollicking R&B. What Haley had done with the song was put more groove into it. What Bill Haley essentially did was release the first Rock & Roll single in history, long before the bigger names that we think of as rock pioneers ever did.
