Chic mastered the minimalist disco style, music that was out of fashion by the time they came on the scene but which they have nonetheless revived and perfected. Furthermore, Chic have been an important reference and source for the rise of hip hop, with The Sugarhill Gang using their song Good Times (#1 on the billboard in 1979) as the basis for their hit Rapper's Delight.
