At one time coming out with a melancholy pop record featuring a tormented lead singer, then switching to grunge and hip hop, the Eels would come back with the next album being upbeat, with two songs even making it to an animated movie soundtrack (Losing Streak and Royal Pain on Shrek movies). Indeed, the Eels change not only lineups, but steady frontman E himself changes styles regularly.
