About New Order
Blue Monday was New Order's first Top 10 single in the UK. Released in 1983, it was the first time the young band was able to get out from the giant shadow of Joy division, their former association. Blue Monday and the entire New Order style music were influenced greatly from visiting the dance floors in New York, which directly influenced their own post-punk style music and incorporated electronica into it.
