About Public Enemy
Expressing his own feeling of being persecuted as a rapper, Chuck D referred to himself in an early recording as Public Enemy #1. The name would carry over to his band, which he would form with Flavor Flav, Professor Grif and DJ Lord, and symbolize the persecution Public Enemy band-members felt as a black rap band in the 80s.
