About Run DMC
The hip hop trio Run DMC was the first to bring this music style to the mainstream, later to MTV and indirectly, via setting the rules of the game in the early 80s, to the current status of hip hop as a legit genre. Run DMC were the first to achieve many goals - the first gold status rap album, first rap album to break into the top 10 pop charts and the first rap video to air on MTV.
