About The Kinks
While the Kinks had several great hits, it was their song about a cross dresser, "Lola" that would become their most loved. Based upon a real occurrence in which Ray Davies was at a bar with band manager Robert Wace. Davies was dancing with a black woman all night, and when they left, Wace asked him if Davies had noticed the stubble on her chin. Davies replied that he had, but was too drunk to care. Thus was born the most loved song the Kinks ever released.
