Van Halen debuted in 1978 with a self-titled recording, but before they signed a contract with Warner Bros. The album was considered to be gold containing a lot of real hits and chart-toppers, and five month later the album went platinum. Over six million copies were sold. It was one of the best albums of the year, and it received much praise both home and abroad.
