The group's original lineup was consisted of two former Montanas members John Jones (vocals) and Terry Rowley (guitar and keyboards), Glenn Hughes (bass), Mel Galley (vocals and guitar), and Dave Holland (drums). Trapeze's first full-length eponymous album was issued on Threshold Records.
