Percussionist and drummer Jake Cardwell and singer, bassist and guitarist Christopher Tolle started the Belles project in the early 2000's. In 2002 the duo signed the professional contract with the Lakeshore label and recruited Peter Buxton to record its debut full-length album called Omerta, which was released the following year.
